Morning Routine for Sixth Graders at DGS By Melody When the whistle is blown at eight o’clock, it’s time to start school and the sixth graders come in their classrooms chit a chatting with their pals so the teachers, Mr. Suprunowicz and Mr. Potter have their students give them five to get their attention. During this time of year, the sixth-grade students are working on EFS groups and three groups meet on Mondays and Wednesdays while the other groups go to science and meet up on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At nine o’clock, the students go outside to have a morning meeting, which is lead by two students who talk about what’s happening. After thirty minutes, the morning meeting is over and the first class starts. Next, students move to their homerooms literacy and math. At eleven o’clock the kids switch classes so they can learn math and literacy because they are both important subjects. At twelve thirty, lunch starts, and the eighth and sixth graders head into the lunchroom to get in line and choose a hamburger, pasta, PB&J, or a salad. Then they sit down and when they are finished, they raise their hand to clean up after themselves and they all come outside to play. Although on Fridays, school ends at 12:45 PM everything is the same but, when it’s time for the EFS groups or science, the sixth graders have the morning meeting. Then when it’s time to switch classes, all the middle school grades go to the gym to have a Friday celebration. These celebrations include fun competitions, like karaoke, water bottle flipping and more to come. Finally, students go to eat lunch and school ends then everyone goes home.
Harvest Festival By Arlin The Harvest Festival is on October 12th. The Harvest Festival celebrates the harvest that the farm has produced. The Harvest Festival will officially include food and the Dragon Singers. The group might be planning a dunk tank, a race, a photo booth, face-paint, and/or a movie in the cafeteria or in the gym. The Harvest Festival will feature the vegetables from the garden. There will also be fruits from the garden too. Gardening by JasonIn the garden, they pick out vine weeds and other types of weeds also they work to help the garden. They pick out tomatoes to try if they are ripe to eat in the cafeteria. Second of all, they use the hose to water the plants. They also harvest the plants to eat. They also put down straw to make the plants good at the garden. They compost food and it turns into the dirt so then they make a good foundation for the plants.
DGS XC In a Crisis By Landon and Noah DPS gives us a variety of sports to play here at DGS. Including but not limited to, Boys Soccer, basketball, and XC. Cross Country is an after school program that allows kids to run in long distance races. But there's one problem, there aren't enough people for us to participate in meets. Meets are when we compete against other schools in the district. If we can't do meets, the entire thing is off, XC will be a thing of the past. In my opinion, people should join because of how it pumps your adrenaline and makes you physically fit. Our first meet is the on Tuesday, September 12th. Students may want to join because on meets the buses arrive as early as 1:00 PM, which means we leave way earlier to get to the meeting place at Fred Thomas park. Usually our meets are in parks or at schools.

The DGS Chicken Coop By Saxon So did you hear there is a chicken coop being built here at the Denver green school? well there is!There is an 8-foot chicken run where the chickens can run outside so they don't get eaten by a dog or a cat. It is made of chicken wire. For each chicken, there has to be four square feet so the chickens have room to move around. There will be key in the chicken coop so the chickens can make their own nest and lay their eggs. This chicken coop is located on the east side of the Middle school building away from food to prevent disease on the food. There are lakes on the chicken coop so people can't steal the chickens and someone will be checking on the chickens once every two days to feed check and watch the chickens and 60 cubic feet is required for chickens. The chickens will be adults because chicks don't lay eggs until their first there will be egg doors to so you can easily reach the eggs,There will be an egg storage for the eggs so we don't overflow with eggs in the kitchen and there will be resting logs because that's where chickens sleep when they arnon laying an egg and there will be an automatic chicken feeder!!! The chicken coop will be helpful to dgs and it will give us fresh eggs for the kids so you know your kid is going to get a good breakfast. And the chicken coop is a great idea and to be honest from the other of this article I already like the coop.
Boys Soccer by Heaven The boys soccer team is a school soccer team with 13+ players. The team is made up of kids in sixth through eighth grade that go against other school soccer teams. I interviewed a soccer player from sixth grade to ask him questions about soccer practice and the games. The first person that I interviewed was Jason Kyaw. “How does practice go?” “He responded ”First they run two laps, stretch, handle the ball, pullback, kicking, ands scoring.” Next I asked “Is practice hard?” “Medium,” he said. “Do you like practice?” “Yes, because we get to make friends and learn new skills.” Next, “Are you excited for games?” Jason said, “Yes, excited to beat people.” The last question was “Have you ever been a soccer player?” “No,” said Jason Kyaw. So far, after going to one of their practices, I observed that they work really hard and communicate well. I believe with even more practice that they could win a lot of games.
A Story for the End by Melody It’s always like this. Kids laughing at me, looking at me funny, and even bullying me. But I still keep a wide smile on my face like nothing’s wrong. Even when I’m not fine. Well, if I can even feel fine or not. As a child I was a happy bright kid always smiling and my parents were always saying,”Oh we are so blessed to have her!” But then one evening, my parents and I went walking down the road near an alleyway and out of nowhere, my parents were kidnapped they shouted,”Run Anna! Run!!.”so I did. Far, far away. I was smart enough to not run home because they would know where I lived. So I ran out of town crying, and breathing heavily. I didn’t stop running until I was too tired to even stand so I slept under a tree with the moon shining on my face. When I woke up, I was at the hospital with a balloon tied to the bed saying,”Get well soon!” I was afraid of balloons but I felt nothing. Like I was broken. I got out to look in the hallway and I see lots of doctors running talking to other doctors. One doctor must have spotted me because one picked me up and put me back in bed. He said,”No no no, stay here and get rest but if you’re not tired you might as well watch some TV.” He then handed me the remote and closed the door behind him. There was just some lame kid shows there for toddlers so I waited for a minute for my shows to go on. Then, my favorite show came on. “The powerpuff Girls” I loved this show since I was very little thinking I could become a superhero like them. But this time, I wasn’t smiling or having fun watching them defeat criminals. I felt nothing. The same doctor came back into my room asking if everything was alright. “I don’t know. I don’t really feel anything.” I replied with a straight face. The doctor was surprised and asked,”Wait, you don’t feel happy, scared, or angry?” “What is happy, scared, and angry?” I asked but It didn’t really matter if I knew those things or not. “Oh no. Oh no no no no.” The doctor rushed out of the room calling out someone’s name. I couldn’t hear who he was calling out to though. The room felt like it matched with The powerpuff girls being all pretty with the colors, the stickers but it sure wasn’t making me happy. A few minutes later five doctors came rushing in. I could tell they were professionals, by the way, they were talking, dressed up as, and how confused they were. I just continued watching the show like nothing was wrong and they were asking questions like,”Are you bored, happy, angry?” “Does anything hurt?” I kept answering,”nope, Nah, no, not at all.” The doctors looked like they had seen a ghost. I guess I was the first patient for this to happen to me. Unless, my mom counts. To be continued next issue.
