Hurricane Fundraiser By Landon and Noah J.
The big topic on everybody's mind is about the three hurricanes in the United States. Maria and Irma, the two class fives, and Harvey, the class four. Ms. K. and the soccer kids were planning a fundraiser for the now homeless people down in Texas, Puerto Rico, Florida, and New York. Here in 6th grade a handful of people actually helped down in the area. But one person stood out to me, Caleb Nickerson. This magnificent person drove down to texas with his father and saved about fifty people with his family's boat. Ms. Kent is sending a handful of people who are collecting spare change.  Denver Green school is working with a group to help victims of Harvey, check them out. Our goal is to raise about 1000 dollars. Unless we help, this will get a lot worse. We can't just let this happen. To learn more flyers are out at Ms. Charmaine’s desk and support dgs in relieving Harvey victims.

DGS Soccer Update By:Arlin Tapia Gonzalez and Jason Kyaw
At a soccer game on monday the 14 of september the DGS Dragons took a L, so the Dragons went home sad. I interviewed my friend Jason Kyaw, and he said, “When we were playing we needed to stick up our defense and offense” Said Jason. The score was 9-1. I asked him, “Was it hard to play against the Hamilton Middle School soccer players?” He responded back with “No, they were just fast and that is why they won.” We shouldn’t be sad that we took a loss home because one of our DGS soccer players scored a goal!!! Yay!! But we still shouldn’t be sad or worried that they will lose again but we still have a lot more games to go so I am for sure that we will win our next game against Place Bridge Academy. The Dgs Dragons lost against the Place Bridge Academy Roadrunners. The score was 8-4. We took another L but we should still not be upset. Our players still scored goals but what we should do or the soccer team should do is keep on practicing hard. The Dgs Dragons took another L against  Denver Discovery . The score was 10- 0 like i’ve said we shouldn’t be sad cause we still have lots and lots of games to go.

Friday Middle School Meetings By: Mikayla
On Fridays, we have  morning meetings and I feel like as a whole middle school enjoys being in there. One of the lead partners, Kartal Jaquette, is always making it fun. It always starts of with music and you walk in dancing. Every Friday, the best dancer is Henry Walker. When everyone sits down Mr Jaquette gives out awards, such as attendance award and stewardship award. In middle school, we have Freaky Friday, which means you come to school in the craziest, most fun outfit. Now not everyone has to participate, but we always have competition. This is where everyone that wants to be in the competition stands in front of everyone and whoever gets the most clapes wins. Then we have a fun game that the different homerooms compete in. For example on the second Friday meeting we had “Despacito” karaoke and a student, Celia Casillo, in my class won. Each activity can win a class 1 point; then, when a class goes up to 3 points they get extra recess.

Winter Garden Update By: Jason Kyaw
In the garden they harvest things before the winter comes so if there are plants that will die in the winter. They try to get all the plants and use them in the cafe for us to eat.but they are growing plants that are purposely or the winter. In the month of december they are also going build a new scare crow for the garden and they are also going to make tents for the plants for the garden and farm so the other plants that they did not harvest don’t die and they also keep the plants that grow in the winter under the tent so they don't freeze like the other plants.when they don’t cover the plants the plant is going to get covered by snow and is going to block the sun then it’s not going to get a lot of nutrients then it’s going to dry out and die in the winter.

Denver Green School Culture By: Heaven
Denver Green School has all types of cultures and that's what make Denver Green School unique. At Denver Green School you have kids from different countries also kids with different religions. Also Denver Green School doesn't push them away; they let them in and teach them. They help the kids who don't know English and they help them learn English fluently. When I walk in the halls of DGS, I see posters of people celebrating their religion. Also, I see a map and pictures of the kids that were born there. DGS is a very helpful school; I hope other schools will do the same and let other kids in. Denver Green School is special because of celebrating different cultures and these kids makes them feel like they fit in. For the Culture Festival I interviewed Ms.Dawson and I asked her what will be going on at the festival. She replied, “Celebrating diversity and there will be 30 different cultures 3 different performers and grade and more people to sign up for food and fashion.” I am excited to see the festival today.

DGS XC In a Crisis, Part Two By: Landon
Right now in DGS XC is not seen as a full team to the district, which also means we don’t get tags. Our problem gets worse because we don’t get busses. This means that the teachers have to drive us to and from the meet. Right now, we need three more boys to be seen as a real team. Since we are a small school, we have way less people than anybody else. We only have about sixteen players in total as the other teams have more like “thousands”. We already are out numbered, but we still have hope.

Our First Excursion, a Student Review By: Melody
Lately, sixth grade students are having a great time at DGS because the teachers are laid back most of the time, the classes are fun, and the sixth graders went camping at Golden a few weeks ago! They first set up their tents, then had lunch, and played camouflage while dinner was getting ready. Then after dinner, they went on a really long hike that when they went back to camp. It was already really dark so the students got to use their flashlights to not trip. Everyone got ready for bed, and then sat around the warm campfire to share some of their talents. Then it was time for bed. In the morning everyone had hot chocolate, and then breakfast. After that, the sixth graders got s'mores and starting hiking again. Which then lead to getting ready to go back home. Here are some words from the kids of what they liked about the trip. Arlin Tapia-Gonzalez:”My favorite part was when my friend got the zipper of our tent stuck because it was funny. I wish we did less hiking because I hurt my knee.” Asher Wohl:” the s’mores because they were delicious and i wish we got to play more games we didn’t play much”    In class, they’re finishing up their poster presentations of a character of their choice, from the book called Seedfolks. There hasn’t been any trouble lately so, it’s not much of a bumpy ride yet.  Although, there are some little fights here and there, but it’s not big so not much of trouble there because teachers are noticing it and trying to solve it.  Most of the kids are really nice and have lots of friends that are really funny. Everyone are glad to be here at Denver Green School.

My First Day at DGS By: Gladys
My first day of school here at DGS I was kind of nervous, but that started to change. I was lucky I took the tour because then I would have been lost. Plus I had a friend that told me where I should go for all of my classes and what I should do. All of my teachers were really nice and helped me catch up to what we were doing in class. At the end of the day, I felt relieved that I didn't get lost. I was happy to go to this school. At first I was really nervous to go to this school because I thought I was gonna get lost and not know where I should go, but I was wrong.

The DGS APP By: Noah J.
DGS is happy to introduce the DGS app on your phone and tablet! Mr. J, the lead partner in shining armor, says “ The Denver Green School app will serve as our primary means of communication to all families. We are thrilled to say that the app is fully customizable to your primary language. You will be receiving important information about school news, events, access to our calendar, the lunch menu, athletic information and more in the most efficient and easiest way possible!” I believe this will help parents get around easier; I know this because I know my own mother had problems having to go on a  third party website to add lunch money to my siblings lunch accounts. Now she can do it with the DGS app!.

The Story, Part Two and Three By: Melody
As I was planning who the girls have to fall for, I heard a “psssssst” “pssst” “Huh? Who goes there?.” It was a boy; he had some blonde hair and tan skin - a little bit like Bianca’s brother. “Who are you!?,” I asked angrily. “Oh! I’m sorry to have bothered you but, um, I need help.” “With?,” I replied. “With this girl named Bianca, I um, like her, yeah, and I try to um, tell her but she um, ignores me.” “Oh?” A sly smirk spreads across my face thinking, “YES! I found the boy she can love instead of MY love!” For too long Bianca has been crushing on my senpai.  “Um, why are you smirking, I’ve got a bad feeling…” He trailed off. “Oh it’s nothing just that I found out a way on how she can accept your feelings.” -gasps- “Thank you so much!!” He ran home feeling happy that he won’t die alone. I need to get information about her hobbies and his hobbies as well. -gasps- I know who knows! I went into the school again, to find her little office. Of course, the sheets are covering the windows. I open the door and walk in. Her chair spins with her asking, “what do you need?” With a sly grin. I need information of these two students. I pull out my phone and show her pictures of them. Then she says,” Oh that’s easy, the girl is Hollister Bianca and the boy is Chris Clearwater.” “Are they good students? Or delinquents?” “I’m not so sure. I’ve been focused on other students, maybe you could get me that information and I’ll help you with something.” “Fine. But what I need is for them to love each other.” “You got it!” “Hey, what’s your name?” “Info chan.” “Ashi Wilona.” “It was good doing business with you Ashi Wilona.” And then I walked out of the room to gather some information. It’s been many years since my mother died and my father is always on business trips so I’m mostly home alone.  I never found my loved one yet, but I’m starting high school soon.  My mother gave me a Shrine just in case if I find the one and would want to keep memorable items in it.  -Yawn-  I’m tired so I’ll go to bed I can’t believe it’s already eight.     In the morning - Oh great! It’s eight in the morning and I’m late. Ughhh. I’ll just walk to school hungry. So, I get ready, and start walking since school is so close by. You know, I feel like my mind is my built in diary because it takes information and only you have permission to know what’s inside. “Huh? Who’s that?,” I quietly said to myself. There was a boy with perfect black hair just like mine and a girl with orange pony tails and polka dot stockings on. I just walked by them and overheard what they were saying. The girl’s voice was really annoying while the boy’s was very soothing.     “Why can’t you wait for me! It’s like you don’t care about me…”The girl said. “I’m sorry Bianca, I guess I overslept a bit and was in a hurry.” Hmmmm I wonder if she likes him. She better get a new boyfriend though. He’s mine!     After class - I have an idea! I’ll talk to the students and ask if they like that girl Bianca. “Hi! I’m Ashi Wilona.” Oh hey, I’m Masuto Budo.” (They have to say their last names first) “I have a job for you Masuto.” “What is it? I like taking jobs.” “I want you to make sure that girl with polka dots tights, and orange hair like someone else other than my friend! But don’t harm her in any way.” “Oh, alright I think her name was... Bianca? She’s friends with Chloe.” “Ok thank you so much Musuto.” “Bye!” I ran over to the courtyard to see all the students talking to each other. And then, I saw the two girls, trying to take away my senpai! I’m gonna make sure they find someone ELSE to love… To Be Continued.
