This week we begin a new unit that covers operations with fractions and decimals. Lots of important work here!
The unit starts with division of fractions. Ask your child to show you a model for dividing with fractions! Homework this week: Monday: page 5 Tuesday: page 11 Wednesday: TBD Thursday: TBD Friday: no school for students.

Here is your weekly homework schedule for math:
Reminder: students should spend no more than 30 minutes on math homework. As always, let me know if you have questions or concerns: [email protected] I want to communicate with everyone about a few things we do in math class so you are not in the dark. Students are using these systems on a daily basis and we are starting to get into good habits with our books, homework, websites, etc.
Greetings, math people! Hope you have enjoyed the beginning of your 6th grade year at Denver Green School. We are working on so many sweet projects already, but this page is dedicated to student & parent information about math (with your favorite math teacher, Mr Potter).
After a delay, students now have math books. One expectation I have is that students keep these books with them all the time. They should have them in class every day for the daily lesson, and they should have them at home every night for the homework which is (almost) always on the blue page following each lesson. So that you can help your child do homework successfully, please refer to the lesson each day (they will know what page) for examples. Students' homework will always be practice of what we did in class. So the daily lesson is a model for how to do it. A second expectation I want to emphasize is that students spend 30 minutes per night on homework assignments. If they don't finish, it's okay: don't spend all night on it. Not helping! Just 30 solid minutes. If your child is unable to do the homework for any reason, just send along a short note or email me to let me know. If you provide a reason, I will not assign Academic Detention. Deal? Each week I will post a list of homework assignments. Today is already Thursday, and I'm not assigning homework tonight (and in general I don't assign homework for the weekend), so look for this update starting next week. If you ever have questions or want to get in touch, the best way to get in touch quickly is via email: [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you. |
